Security & Privacy
How we protect your bakery, your money and your customers, in plain language.
Card numbers never touch our servers
Payments are handled by Stripe or Square, two of the most trusted payment companies in the world.
Your money goes straight to you
Customer payments land in your own Stripe or Square account. We never hold your money.
Your customers are yours
We only message your customers on your behalf, and only after they say yes.
Payments
Does Picnic Pie see or store card numbers?
No. When someone pays, they type their card into a secure form that comes directly from Stripe or Square. The card number goes straight to them, encrypted, and never passes through or gets saved on Picnic Pie. We only get a receipt that says the payment went through.
Who are Stripe and Square?
They are payment companies used by millions of businesses. Both are certified at PCI DSS Level 1, the highest security standard in the card payment industry. That is why every checkout on Picnic Pie says "Secured by Stripe" or "Secured by Square."
How do I connect my Stripe or Square account?
You click Connect in your payment settings and sign in on Stripe's or Square's own website. They then give Picnic Pie permission to take payments for your shop. We never see your Stripe or Square password, and you can disconnect at any time.
Where does my money go?
Straight into your own Stripe or Square account, and from there to your bank on their normal payout schedule. Picnic Pie never holds your sales. On the Free plan, our small platform fee is split off automatically at the moment of the sale.
How is my Picnic Pie subscription billed?
Plan payments also go through Stripe. You enter your card on Stripe's secure checkout page, not on ours, and you can update or remove it any time from your billing settings.
Your account
Is my connection to Picnic Pie encrypted?
Yes. Every page, including your storefront and any custom domain you connect, is served over HTTPS. That means everything sent between your browser and Picnic Pie is encrypted along the way.
How do I sign in safely?
You can use a password, or skip the password and sign in with a one-time code we email to you. Use a password you do not use anywhere else, and never share sign-in codes with anyone. Picnic Pie staff will never ask you for one.
Your customers' information
Who owns my customer list?
You do. Customer names, orders and contact details are there to help you run your bakery. We do not market our own products to your customers or share your customer list with other bakers.
Will my customers get emails or texts they did not ask for?
No. Customers only get marketing emails and texts from your shop if they opt in. Order-update texts are a separate opt-in from marketing texts, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link that works right away.
Do you track allergens or other sensitive details?
Only what you or your customers choose to enter, such as allergen notes. It is there to help you fill orders safely, and we never use it for advertising or share it with anyone else.
Your data and privacy
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell your data or your customers’ data. You can read exactly what we collect and why in our Privacy Policy.
Where can I read the full details?
Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are linked at the bottom of every page. This page is the plain-language summary, and the policies are the official version.
What if I think something is wrong?
If you notice anything suspicious with your account, or you think you have found a security problem, contact us right away through our contact page. We read every report.
